Oral Book Report

Starting next week the students will be presenting their oral book reports! Students are expected to talk to the class about their book as opposed to reading a script. If they would like to have a few points down to ensure they speak about each element that is fine. The are expected to address the following areas:

Setting - Where did the story take place?
Main Character- Who is the story about?
Other important Characters - What other characters are present and important in the story
Problem- What problem/challenge did the main character face?
Solution - How was the problem solved?
Conclusion- What happened at the end of the book?
Recommendation - Did you like the book? Why or why not? Who or what grade levels would you recommend this book to?

We are working on using a clear and strong voice when speaking, and making sure our pace is not too slow or too fast. It is also important to make eye contact with the audience when we are speaking. Costumes and props add a dramatic effect to the presentation. The class will be able to ask one or two questions about the book that has been presented. I look forward to hearing all the wonderful reports!
